Clone Wars Saved

Star Wars: The Clone Wars is coming back, and not in the form of reruns.

You read that right. Just announced today by Dave Filoni at the San Diego Comic-Con during The Clone Wars' 10th anniversary celebration, the beloved animated series will be returning with 12 new episodes.

Also released today was the trailer, which revealed fan favorites, including Captain Rex, an older Ahsoka Tano, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Anakin Skywalker will indeed return. Also seen in the trailer is Bo-Katan, hinting heavily that the Siege of Mandalore will be featured.



Filoni expressed excitement today for the project, and was thankful for fans' support. "Well, thankfully, their enthusiasm is relentless. Their love of these characters and stories hasn't diminished. I actually think their voice has gotten louder as the years have gone by. It's been very humbling to have their support and to have people continue to hashtag me, '#SaveTheCloneWars'," Filoni said.

Ewan McGregor Possibly Preparing for Kenobi Movie

Help us, Ewan McGregor, you're our only Kenobi. This is the opinion of many Star Wars fans, especially with the news of the Obi-Wan Kenobi stand-alone movie.

Kenobi actor, Ewan McGregor, first portrayed the iconic Jedi Master in 1999, when The Phantom Menace released in theaters. Now, a new image of McGregor has gone viral, and his appearance is raising some eyebrows. 

The photo, shared on Facebook by Tony Horton, features McGregor in gym gear, sporting what many consider to be the iconic Kenobi beard and participating in P90X training. "Kenpo X finished off the first week of the Scotty Fifer Fitness Fandango. Not too late for you to join us for some classic P90X with Fifer and friends. Bring It," the caption on the picture said.

Ever since the return to the franchise and the announcement of different spin-off stories, fans have been asking for McGregor to reprise his role, and to perhaps even have his own movie. However, even with the announcement of talks with Stephen Daldry to direct, nothing else has been confirmed. McGregor has previously stated that he would "love" to return to the franchise. "Listen, I have been asked about it a lot, to the point where it looks a bit like I'm sort of touting for work. I've been very open to say I'd be happy to do it, if they want to do it" McGregor said.

The film is rumored to begin production in 2019, with its release in 2020. It is currently under the production name of Joshua Tree. Read our previous article on the announcement here.

Fanfiction Spotlight #1: The Silent Song

Alright everyone, strap yourself in because this is a very emotional ride!

This elegantly written story takes place during Jedi Apprentice, a series of books written by Judy Blundell and Dave Wolverton that take place before The Phantom Menace. These books, which follow Obi-Wan Kenobi's apprenticeship to maverick Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn, deviate from this alternate universe fiction early on, however, as Obi-Wan cannot speak. You read that right, the famed Negotiator and sass master, is completely mute for reasons currently unknown.

I will admit, I was hesitant to read this story at first, knowing this piece of information. My fears were unfounded, however, and I was hooked to the story from the very first sentence. The mature diction, irony, and vivid descriptions enthrall the reader from start to finish (although this story is not yet complete). The author manages to capture each characterization with impressive accuracy, making it obvious how well-researched the story is, all the while introducing new characters into her alternate universe that are just as iconic as the original characters we all know and love in Star Wars.

Now, please allow me to gush. I have always adored Obi-Wan, and seeing a young boy in place of a Jedi Master was immensely refreshing, and the fan girl within me bawled from pure joy. From the fluff to the angst and everything in between, I more than got my fill of baby Obi-Wan. Reading the author's vision of him growing up has been an absolute treat. Then, we have Qui-Gon, one of the most underused characters of he prequels. Besides Darth Maul, of course. The author stays true to his maverick personality, while capturing the civility and elegance of his character, while keeping him human and able to be at fault. Let's not even begin on Master Tahl. In he words of fan girls everywhere, "I can't even."

This story is easily one worthy of 5/5 stars. The perfect mix of action and fluff, diction and tone, and every part of this story is superb with little to no room for improvement. Obi-Wan Kenobi Movie in the Works

Help us Stephen Daldry, you're Obi-Wan Kenobi's only hope. Or so it seems.

Sources have reportedly told The Hollywood Reporter that an Obi-Wan Kenobi stand alone film is in early talks for director Stephen Daldry to take charge of the film. According to The Hollywood Reporter, if Daldry were to agree to the job, he would oversee both development and scripting of the film.

Currently, the movie has no script or actors attached to the project and it is unknown if Ewan McGregor will reprise his role as the beloved Jedi Master.  Previously, however, McGregor has said in several interviews that he has a large interest in starring as Kenobi once again and would be more than happy too. "Listen, I have been asked about it a lot, to the point where it looks a bit like I'm sort of touting for work," said McGregor in an interview with Business Insider. "I've been very open to say I'd be happy to do it, if they want to do it." 

Fans have been begging for an Obi-Wan story for a while now, and for the time being, it seems they are going to get what they wished for. This story is still in the works so check back often for updates.

UPDATE 8/24

Reports coming from Omega Underground have stated that the project name for the spin-off has been confirmed. With the title "Joshua Tree", it is more likely now that it will be in a desert setting, or more specifically, Tatooine. Joshua Tree National Park is located in California, where both the Mojave and the Colorado desert come together. This is near Death Valley National Park, where several scenes of A New Hope was filmed.

LucasFilm has not yet released further details on the movie so be sure to check back on our Facebook page often for more updates! The unnamed Obi-Wan movie is expected to be released in 2020.

Will Ewan McGregor Return As "Obi-Wan Kenobi" In Possible Kenobi Trilogy?

Since the creator of Star Wars, George Lucas, Sold Lucasfilm back in 2012 to Disney and announced they were expanding the Star Wars universe beyond anything we’ve ever seen, there has been a very long ongoing line of rumors, theories, spoilers, and speculation about what we might see in the future of the Star Wars trilogy. But one that has been on fans mind for the longest time ever since we got the news Star Wars is expanding, is a possible spin off film based on Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Ewan McGregor is reportedly in talks with Disney for an unknown project, but according to Schmoes Know’s sources, the discussions are specifically about him reprising his role as the infamous Jedi Knight. Now please bear in mind that this is not in ANY ways confirmed or carved in stone as of yet by Lucasfilm or Disney...But it's fun to think about.

And now, according to this source, Disney has been courting Ewan McGregor “not to be a force ghost, but for a post-Episode III Kenobi.”  They also added that they’ve heard from multiple people that Disney wants an Obi-Wan Kenobi TRILOGY of films, outside of the Anthology series. This adds some credence to a past story found at Cinelinx who had previously reported the same rumor.

There is definitely a lot of ground that could be explored, and many stories that fall into this general time frame. Of course, deals will have to be made; stories will have to be written. A lot could go wrong before it goes right. So for now, this is speculation on the sources’part.

Star Wars Rebels Season 2: Dave Filoni Teases Of Upcoming Episode's Title And Characters

Clone Wars and Rebels creator, Dave Filoni stated that Star Wars Rebels Season 2 will return with new episodes starting in September, and that the first upcoming episode will be titled "The Lost Commanders". The episode features a return of the clone troopers CT-7567 ("Rex"), CC-3636 ("Wolffe") and CC-5576-39 ("Gregor") originally seen in the Star Wars:The Clone Wars series.


The Daily Dot posted a fantastic interview with the Executive Producer Dave Filoni yesterday in which he gave this cryptic description of an upcoming scene in season two.

Daily Dot: "Give me a nice cryptic tease of a specific event you’re really looking forward to fans seeing in season 2."

Filoni: "Ummm. Boy. I know exactly what it is. You know, it was interesting. I was, oddly, up at Skywalker Ranch [in Marin County, north of Lucasfilm's San Francisco offices], while Kathy [Kennedy] and J.J. [Abrams] were at Comic-Con doing their panel. I had the StarWars.com livestream updating on my computer while I was drawing and storyboarding probably one of the most critical things I've ever drawn and staged at my job at Lucasfilm. And I just found it to be a really interesting kind of crossover point, to see Kathy carrying forward this big movement of Star Wars now, and the fan excitement, and to be...literally I was drawing it in about the same place where I started Clone Wars in 2005.

[Lucasfilm] moved from the Ranch to Big Rock [a nearby studio] and then down to the Presidio [in San Francisco], but that day, because the Golden Gate Bridge was temporarily closed—they were doing some traffic changes—I went in and worked at the Ranch, which I hadn't done in a long time. And it just so happened that I was drawing this really, really, really, really, really, really, really important moment that I had turned over in my head many times, dealing with Ahsoka. And all this was happening on this same day.

I'll never forget that. That was really just a great day in my head for Star Wars. And I thought, "Wow, no one knows this is all happening." But I never would have thought, when I started in 2005, that I would be there 10 years later, not just working on what I was, in that moment, but also witnessing this forward future for Star Wars on a scale that I don't think any of us could have imagined in 2005.

It was kind of a nice point where all things came together for me. And that stuff that I staged, that particular scene, and everything surrounding it...I'm very excited for fans to see. That's going to be a big one. When it happens, you can ask me, you'll say, "Was this the thing?" and I'll say, "Yeah," and I can go into more detail about it.

Is that cryptic enough?"

So what does this mean for us Star Wars fans and what are a few things we should prepare ourselves for? Just in the first upcoming episode alone, we can expect to continue seeing more on Ezra's backstory for the most part, possible new Rebellion groups joining forces together with the main characters to spark the Rebel Alliance against the Empire to later connect with Episode IV: A New Hope, more possible appearances of Jedi master, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and finally, a chilling dark duel between Lord Vader and his late apprentice, Ahsoka Tano.
