IGN gave us plenty of inside scoops about the Star Wars toy line. But according to fans, this one really struck their attention towards one character in particular, Kylo Ren. Kylo has been fully revealed for the first time during Disney's global live toy unboxing event, and more particularly, his helmet!
The Tokyo, Japan segment showcased three giant JAKKS figures with a 31-inch First Order Stormtrooper, a 48-inch talking First Order Stormtrooper and a 31-inch Kylo Ren. Previously only seen in frontal view, the removable cloak on the Kylo Ren figure gave fans a full look at the villain's masked helmet.
From what we have seen here and past info we have gathered, the design has almost identical qualities to Darth Vader’s, especially the skirting that curves around the back of the hull, IGN tells us.
Here's what the hosts in Tokyo, Japan had to say about the revealing of Ren:
"You can see his helmet, the helmet is in... from what we've been reading online, especially on the website and in interviews, it's possible he modeled it after Darth Vader,” the host said. “Because that's someone he was really, really into and had an affection towards. But we'll have to see in the movies."
Like Kylo Ren’s infamous crossguard lightsaber, the helmet has a frenzied homemade look to it. The hull is pockmarked with dents and scrapes giving it a well-worn, or secondhand look. It lends to the theory that it was assembled using Darth Vader's helmet.
