Michael B. Jordan To Play The Role As Boba Fett In Spinoff Film

By: Justin Marsh

In the latest Star Wars Movie news, rumor has it that Lucasfilm is considering changing the ethnicity of Boba Fett, and casting actor Michael B. Jordan for the role. For those who are unfamiliar with Michael B. Jordan’s work, he recently was involved in the new Fantastic Four movie where he was lampooned online for being the actor who changed the ethnicity of Marvel character Johnny Storm.

Here's what ComicBookMovie.com had to say on the matter:

"After his alleged behaviour on the set of Fantastic Four, Josh Trank was fired by Lucasfilm and the Star Wars Anthology movie he was set to direct was pushed back to an unknown date (Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s solo outing for Han Solo will now open in 2018 instead). It’s been widely reported that the spinoff was set to focus on Boba Fett, and The Wrap’s Jeff Sneider confirmed that in the latest episode of the Meet the Movie Press Podcast (via Latino-Review). However, he had another very interesting titbit to add. Apparently, before choosing Furious 8, Straight Outta Compton helmer F. Gary Gray was under consideration for that movie focusing on the iconic Bounty Hunter, and Boba may have been black, with Lucasfilm at one point considering Fantastic Four and Creed star Michael B. Jordan for the role (which may explain why Trank was under consideration).

But wait, the Boba we met in Star Wars: Attack of the Clones wasn’t black! Well, think back to that rumour from around a year ago that someone else will be wearing the armour, and this makes a lot more sense. It also confirms that this spinoff will take place after the events of Return of the Jedi, and this would be a very interesting direction to take the character in. As beloved as Boba Fett was, he never had much of a personality, so Lucasfilm do indeed have a ton of freedom to what they want with him. Still, all of this should be taken strictly as a rumour for the time being, so don’t go lighting your torches and rooting around for your pitchforks just yet!"

So what do you guys think about this? Is it a good move for Lucasfilm to make? Or are we going into the deep end here? Let us know!

  1. please don't do this. Stay true to BF. If anything, get Temuera Morrison to play him and make him look older

  2. Or Daniel Logan, he's like 28 now. Think of continuity, unless they plan for a new guy in the story to take up the armor after Boba's death.

  3. This would be the WORST idea in Star Wars history if true. (Worse that Jar-Jar Binks even!)

  4. The story can't take place after ROTJ bc Boba Fett was killed in that one.
