Canceled Darth Maul Game Revived?

Cannon Adams

"At last we will reveal ourselves to the Jedi. At last we will have revenge!"

The game that was in development back in 2010 may be RESURRECTED! Darth Maul was supposed to have his own game based saber slasher in ways similar to The Force Unleashed games up until it was canceled. The Darth Maul game was developed by Red Fly Studio and was called Battle of the Sith Lords following fan favorite Darth Maul. When Disney took over all Star Wars productions of movies and video games, Disney canceled the project when took ownership back in 2012 as well they canceled the highly anticipated game Star Wars 1313. Yea remember that game that we were all jacked up and excited for because of it being based around Boba Fett? Ill let that sink into your minds!

Moving forward! Red Fly Studios is currently on the move to push Battle of the Sith Lords game to license holder EA. EA and DICE is to release the most highly anticipated shooter Star Wars Battlefront so Red Fly Studios decided why not push it to EA?

Red Fly's Dan Borth said in an Ask Me Anything session saying:

"We are currently working on a full next gen demo of all things Maul to show to the powers that be. It's been a lot of work on our off time. We have been burning a candle for this game since it was killed in hopes we can get it turned back on again. IF that is to happen we need to approach EA with a demo that will impress them. I think we have that or are close to it. Still, it is completely not up to us."

Darth Maul got sliced in half in Star Wars The Phantom Menace and later returned to The Clone Wars animated series and then later after the show got canceled thanks to Disney, Dark Horse Comics wrote a 4 part series called Darth Maul: Son of Dathomir following the events during the clone wars after the canceled series. So what else has Darth Maul been doing since? Dan Borth says that the game takes place before The Phantom Menace to show young Darth Maul at age 9 or 11 to show what he went through to become a Sith.

Dan says:
"We felt that Maul could be a character that you cheered for because he was so ferocious. Like a wild animal. We didn't want to humanize Maul like Dexter but we wanted to explain what happened to him and you could see why he turned out the way he did."
Borth also said that sections of the game would follow Darth Krayt.

Because of Star Wars Battlefront is set to be canon to the story of Star Wars, Red Fly would re-skin the game with a new character or one closely tied to the classics or the upcoming Star Wars The Force Awakens.
"Hopefully EA will see the value in us reskinning our combat mechanic to be more in line with what they are thinking for Star Wars if they were not interested in Maul. We would need to complete our vertical slice of the game -- a fully functioning complete portion of the game or as close to it as possible and put it in front of EA, and also talk with Disney. EA has the rights to Star Wars on console and PC so it would be up to them to greenlight it. For them, they would need to be convinced we could do the game and that it fit into their new vision."
If Dan Borth with Red Fly Studios succeed in impressing EA and convincing Disney to give the green light to resurrect Battle of the Sith Lords, then there shouldn't be a problem resurrecting LucasArts Star Wars 1313. I wish Dan Borth a good luck trying to pass this game through and I believe that us fans would be more than happy to see another canon story of Darth Maul showing his youth years. Millions of fans love Darth Maul just as much as they do with Boba Fett. So I say this to both EA and Disney, resurrect both Darth Maul: Battle of the Sith Lords and Star Wars 1313 with next gen graphics just like the upcoming Star Wars Battlefront!
